Dr. Lawlor is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Head of the Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver General Hospital. He has significant experience in managing all vascular diseases and vascular surgical problems including both open and endovascular surgery. He has a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Toronto and has a strong interest in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

Dr. Lawlor is originally from Atlantic Canada and has a BSc from Dalhousie University. He graduated from medical school at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario in 1996. He stayed there to complete training in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. He then practiced Vascular surgery there until 2011 when he moved to British Columbia.

Dr. Lawlor was the Vascular Surgery residency program director during his time at Western. He has been a Royal College examiner in Vascular Surgery for several years and is the Chair Elect and longstanding member of the Subspecialty Committee in Vascular Surgery for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has been quite actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education both at UBC and at Western throughout his career.

Dr. Lawlor is passionate about vascular surgery and has a real devotion to resident education and mentorship. He enjoys the outdoors and hobbies include skiing, cycling and fishing.
